Six of us went for Wednesday pie night but hadn't realise you needed to preorder your pie & they'd sold out (at 7pm)! However lots of other things on the menu so we all ended up having very enjoyable meals. Waitress was lovely & pudding was divine, all very reasonable as well. Thank you.

A second generation village pub who serve fantastic food and also have limited room availability, well worth a visit and sadly, now for sale. Both ladies of the house, have been a credit to the pub, the occupation and the village, one sadly missed, the other well respected.

Just had the most divine meal with great service. I had 2 starters as I didn’t want anything heavy. Goats cheese croquettes and honey glazed chicken wings, both were delicious. Hubby had rump steak with peppercorn sauce which he said was really good quality tasty rump. For dessert hubby had the After Eight Mint Cheesecake which had just the right amount of mint flavouring and was so smooth and creamy with a firm biscuity base. I had the dark chocolate, pear and walnut brioche pudding - omg it was divine served warm with pouring cream but you could choose ice cream or custard. I liked it so much hubby didn’t get even a mouthful. All staff are friendly and attentive. Service was quick and efficient. Beer is very well kept and Agi pours the best pint with a smile and friendly banter.

Lovely Sunday lunch and great to see a village pub bustling with locals supporting the community. Beef was huge! How on earth people manage three courses…note to self if coming again an elasticated waistband is essential to take full advantage of the varied and delicious menu.

This lovely little pub has become my go to destination when narrow boating. The locality has various pubs close by, but non of them can match the Old Peculiar. The food is simply outstanding and homecooked, the beer selection tops anything else nearby, but best of all the staff and locals are so friendly. The pie nights were pure bliss and i'm planning on making a return when they are back on again, hands down best homemade pies i've ever eaten. In these days of uncertainty in hospitality its great to see little independant pubs like this still offering a quality service to the locals. They are so lucky to be living in Handsacre!!! Regards John Roame. Norwich.
